Teni and Tayo Creations create products and classes that teach kids about Africa through play, stories, and hands-on activities. Their solutions could be as simple as an African proverb in your toy box or a subscription box with lessons about Africa inside. Whatever it is, Teni and Tayo Creations are excited to share a piece of Africa with you.
A Journey of Representation and Awareness
Born and raised in Nigeria, Mobola had always been surrounded by a community that looked like her. However, after relocating to California and raising her two young daughters there, she noticed a stark contrast in representation and awareness of African culture and history.
Determined to make a difference, she set out to create a world where her daughters and other children could see themselves reflected in everyday items and learn about their rich heritage. Through her passion and commitment, she founded a venture that not only offers unique products but also fosters a sense of inclusivity and pride in one's roots.
Driven by a strong belief in the power of representation and education, Mobola strives to create a brighter and more inclusive tomorrow for the next generation. Her journey is a testament to the transformative impact of entrepreneurship and the ability to inspire positive change in society.
In her words:
"Most people only think of poverty and war when they think of Africa, but I wanted my daughters to feel proud of their heritage and to know that there is more to Africa than that. That’s when I decided to start something on my own.
My hope is that the products I create appeal to children from all ethnic groups, while at the same allowing black and African children to feel more empowered, and proud to be who they are".
